About the Blog

Expense of Spirit is1 a weblog about Art, books, music, language, philosophy, spirituality, nerd culture, food and drink, story, poetry, fandom, improving the world, the creative process, introversion, the life well-lived, and related subjects.

The title is from Shakespeare’s Sonnet 129, “The expense of spirit in a waste of shame.” Readers who share the host’s unseemly love of Elizabethan euphemism may find that the penny is just about to drop for them, if indeed it hasn’t already.

1 Or intends to be, anyway. It’s a young endeavor yet, and anything could happen.
